FONAS-Bulletin and Newsletter

A FONAS Bulletin informs members and interested parties about the state, results and perspectives of FONAS works. A FONAS Newsletter provides information on the substantive results and works; it is published about once per year.

FONAS Meetings and Presentations

The participating groups and members meet every spring and autumn at a conference to discuss project results and to inform about their progress, as well as to develop new perspectives. Once or twice per year policy-relevant works are presented at the Federal capital during expert discussions and debated with politicians, staff members of the Bundestag, the ministries, representatives from the public and other interested parties.

Electronic Communications

Electronic communications are used for internal information as well as for public dissemination. As part of the FONAS internal information list, scientific discussions, working papers and relevant references are circulated via email. FONAS has its own internet homepage (www.fonas.org) and provides "links" to other groups.

International Links and Cooperations

The FONAS - groups and members work together with the groups which in the international area investigate scientific issues of disarmament and peace. These include the following centres:

Science, Technology and Global Security Working Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston USA,
The Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security Programm at the University Urbana-Champaign, Illinois USA,
The Program on Science and Global Security (PS&GS) at the Princeton University, USA,
The Center for Arms Control, Energy and Environmental Studies at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Russia,
The Arms Control Program at the Institute of International Studies, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China,
as well as various Non-Government Organizations like the Union of Concerned Scientists or the Federation of American Scientists (USA), as well as other research groups in Sweden, Hungary, the Netherlands, Pakistan and China. FONAS-members are also regularly invited to the International Pugwash Conferences, take part in the International Summer Symposium on Science and World Affairs and organise international conferences themselves.

FONAS cooperates with the Working Group on Physics and Disarmament (AGA) Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG, German Physical Society), the International Network of Engineers and Scientists Against Proliferation (INESAP) and the Natural Scientists' Initiative “Responsibility for Peace and Sustainability.
